Are you able to achieve your goals? Very often, people set goals but find it hard to achieve them successfully. If you have the same problem, you are not alone and chances are it is because of the same reason – lack of proper time management.

Everybody has 24 hours each day but if you are able to apply time management skills, you will be able to spend more time on the tasks that are more difficult to accomplish. So how can you better manage your time then? The following 5 tips will help you to do just that.

1. Working Smart Instead Of Working Hard
The old school of thought that we have to work very, very hard in order to achieve success is something of the past when the work load of most people was not as much as now. If you do that now, you will just end up with overwhelming loads of work. Instead, it is better that you work smart rather than work hard. In this way, you will not only complete your tasks but also reduce your stress levels.

An example of how you can work smart is by focusing your energy to the task you are doing and not try to multi-task. If you are not focus on your work, you might end up having to do the same task twice instead of just once. Similarly, you can group related activities together such as going for shopping once a week and buy everything you need at one go instead of going to the shop a few times to get the specific things you need.

2. Creating A To-Do List
This is linked to the above point. By spending some time each to create a to-do list, you can actually save more time later on when you cannot decide what you have to do first. On the other hand, do not have be overly ambitious and write a few to-do lists as that might lead to confusion instead! Also, stick the list somewhere that you can easily see so that you do not have to waste additional time looking for the list! You will also be able to tell immediately what you next goal is.

3. Setting Priority
In order to complete everything on time, you should set your priorities right. Separate the urgent and important tasks from the rest and get these done first. This also means that you get to work on them whether you like it or not. In this way, you will not waste time procrastinating and only end up panicking at the end when the deadline is near. It will also help you to clear your tasks slowly but surely.

4. Learning To Say “No”
This might seem to be an obvious point but there are people who do not know how to reject others’ appeal for help even though it is not as important as what they need to get done. You must remember that others have 24 hours just like you. Thus, unless it is a life-and-dead emergency, learn to turn others down and stick to your own schedule. Once you have learnt how to manage your time well, you will find that you have more time at hand and have time to accomplish even more tasks. That is when you find that you are getting nearer and nearer to achieving your goals.

5. Sticking To Allotted Time Frame
When you are planning your goals, you would have also allotted time frames to each task. Make sure you stick to the time frame because this will ensure that you have time to complete other tasks later on.

Learning and applying the above time management skills in your daily life will help you a long way in achieving your goals. Once it becomes a habit, you will find that you can easily accomplish any dream you want as long as you set your goals and stick to your schedule.

Are there some dreams that you have always wanted to accomplish but achieving your goals seems to be something that is very impossible? If you do, you are not alone. Many people face the problem of starting on a project but never seeing it through. What is causing their failure? The answer is simple, thinking too much!

Yes, you may be surprise but many people tend to think too much and ultimately, their success is being hindered. You may think that this is a controversy to what you have been taught to do, isn’t it? School teachers and parents will not stop to remind us to think before we answer any questions. You must also have heard of the famous book, “Think and Grow Rich” so why am I saying that thinking too much is causing you to fail?

By asking you to stop thinking, I am referring to over-analyzing a situation. There are many people who would spend hours, days and even months reading and analyzing what they have read before they actually start to do it! Analyzing will not result in your success but taking action will!

If you have heard of Socrates, a great ‘thinker’, you might have heard of one of his sayings, “Action equals knowledge”. If you want to achieve success, you should set to work and take massive action instead of simply planning and analyzing the situation.

Taking massive action does not apply just for an individual who wants to attain success in life. Regardless of whether you dream of being a successful singer, pianist, businessman or of being a billionaire, the path to success is still the same – action! You must practice hard on your piano, practice singing for hours each day, play basketball for numerous hours before you can call yourself an expert or before you can take part in a competition and have a chance of wining.

Michael Jordon did not get famous overnight and neither did Sebastian Stallone. Being their success are numerous hours of hard work put into practicing and improving their skills. You cannot expect to set some goals, work a little at your plans and when you did not attain success within a few nights, you give up. If you do that, you can kiss your dreams ‘goodbye!’

Anybody can attain success. If you want to achieve your goals and see your dreams coming true this year, just focus on taking actions and stop thinking so much because when you start to analyze, fear might start to creep into the picture. When that happens, you will fear failure and end up not doing anything at all. Thus, remember, achieving your goals is easy as long as you take massive action and start taking action now!
